How Vibroacoustic Harp Therapy (VAHT) Works

The harp is a uniquely resonant instrument, and when played, its musical vibrations can be felt throughout the room. Vibroacoustic Harp Therapy (VAHT) harnesses the harp’s natural vibrations, channeling them through amplification into a vibrotactile device such as a table, pillows or chair embedded with speakers. Clients lie on the mat and feel the harp’s soothing vibrations moving gently through their body. Many describe the experience as a musical massage—a deeply calming and restorative journey.

Every session is customized to the client’s individual needs. The personalized vibration of the music works to restore the body’s natural rhythms, promoting health and well-being without physical touch. VAHT is a gentle yet powerful therapy, offering relief for issues such as PTSD, pain, stress, and anxiety, with virtually no side effects. This makes VAHT an excellent complementary therapy to use alongside traditional approaches. Sessions typically last 20 to 45 minutes, depending on the client’s preferences and needs. VAHT sessions are offered for Veterans via government grant funding at the H. John Heinz III Department of Veterans Affairs Medical Center by referral.
