Therapeutic Harp Music
Stephanie Miller is a Certified Music Practitioner (CMP), trained to provide live, therapeutic music that supports healing and comfort for all present, especially those who are ill, in recovery, or transitioning at the end of life. Unlike a performance, therapeutic music is a service. Each musical piece is improvised and adapted in the moment to meet the unique needs of the individual or group.
Certified Music Practitioners are trained through the Music for Healing and Transition Program (MHTP), accredited by the National Standards Board of Therapeutic Musicians. CMPs serve in a variety of settings, including hospitals, hospices, long-term care, and community spaces.
Stephanie primarily uses the harp in her CMP work and, when fitting, also incorporates the soothing tones of the flute. She currently provides therapeutic harp music at the VA Pittsburgh Healthcare System and, in 2021, co-created the first Vibroacoustic Harp Therapy (VAHT) program for Veterans at the Heinz Campus VA Hospital. She also has provided VAHT sessions for students at the Western Pennsylvania School for the Blind.
Beyond clinical settings, Stephanie provides live, improvised harp music for Gentle and Restorative Yoga classes, enhancing relaxation and supporting the benefits of the practice.
